The menu item File contains functions for opening, saving and closing projects. In addition, the current map window can be output on a printer via the menu item File → Print.

Layer offers functions for reading in, saving and creating new background layers.

The menu item Edit contains the standard functions for undoing and repeating function calls and functions for copying and pasting objects or layers.

The menu item Parcel Experiment maps the workflow for creating and exporting trial blocks.

Under Extras there are menu items for program and project related settings. The GPS can also be activated here.

With the menu item New project you can create a new project. If a project is to be opened in mgis2x format, please select the Open project submenu. Alternatively, the project file can be dragged and dropped into MiniGIS.

Mark the file to be opened in the file selection window and select Open. A new project window appears with the selected project.

When MiniGIS is started again, the project appears with the path in the File menu and can be opened here with just one click.

Save project saves the current project in mgis2x format. A dialog appears in which an ESRI shape file, a KML file, a Tiff image, a CSV file or a text file can be selected for opening. After clicking OK, the file is automatically read into the active project.

If no project has yet been created, a new project is created.

After opening the file, the coordinate system is queried. The program supports reading files in the UTM, Gauss-Krüger and geographical coordinate systems (longitude / latitude, WGS 84) and MGI.

Tiff images must be georeferenced or have a tfw file of the same name. Background images can neither be saved nor changed.

The shape files opened via the Layer menu are background layers and cannot be used as the boundary of a plot attempt!

The menu items Save layer, Save layer as and Close layer save or close the (dark background) level selected in the level list. To do this, the layer must be displayed, i.e. marked with a green check mark in the layer list.

If you want to create a new level, you can do so via Layer → New layer. A window opens in which you can specify the file location. After confirming with save, the new layer appears in the level list. Under General → General settings you can, for example, determine whether a scale bar should be drawn on the map. You can also switch off the automatic update check here if you do not want this.

You can reset your windows to their original position using the Reset position of program window button. This can e.g. required when switching between monitors with different screen resolutions.

German and English are available as languages ​​for MiniGIS. Language changes become active after restarting MiniGIS.

The snapping function can be activated or deactivated under Snapping. You can also change the radius from which the snapping function becomes active. The larger you choose this value, the sooner your mouse pointer will jump to a point or a line when you approach it.

To display the background map in MiniGIS it is necessary to enter a BING Maps Key. If you do not yet have a BING Maps Key, you can use Create Bing Maps Key to go to the Microsoft Bing Maps website (English only!) Where you can generate a corresponding key.

The General → Customer data tab allows you to store your company data in MiniGIS. In addition to the company address and your contact details, you can also save a company logo in the form of an image file. The data can thus be displayed on printouts. These IDs are important when exporting data to the Trimble FmX display.

If areas or lines are displayed incorrectly on the FmX display and cannot be used to drive or trigger the seed drill, these IDs may need to be exported and, if necessary, changed beforehand.

With the Export button you can transfer the IDs created here to the USB stick and further to the FmX terminal.

ATTENTION: Please make sure that you have copied the CURRENT files on the FmX under Files → Configuration → Features from the display to the USB stick before you use the ID export. If this is not the case, it can happen that you overwrite your settings on the FmX with the data from MiniGIS.
